Basketball Game Preview: Manzano Monarchs vs. Albuquerque Academy Chargers

The Manzano Monarchs will square off against the Albuquerque Academy Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Manzano has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Albuquerque Academy will arrive with five straight victories.

Manzano saw some tournament action two weeks ago. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandia Prep.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy posted their closest win since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Capital out 56-53.

Albuquerque Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Manzano, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Manzano beat Albuquerque Academy 51-38 in their previous matchup back in December of 2015. Does Manzano have another victory up their sleeve, or will Albuquerque Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
