Preview: Pine Crest Panthers vs. Franklin Academy Panthers
The Pine Crest Panthers will be playing at home against the Franklin Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Pine Crest pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-55 to Somerset Academy Key.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Rowan Hoffman, who scored 23 points. He scored a full 41.8% of Pine Crest's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kareem Khouri, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Franklin Academy had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They suffered a rough 56-36 defeat at the hands of David Posnack Jewish Day.
Despite the loss, Franklin Academy saw an underclassman step up: Robert Guishard dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Toussaint, who scored 5 points.
Their wins bumped Pine Crest to 1-3 and Somerset Academy Key to 2-3.
