While Solanco didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Eastern York Golden Knights on Friday. With that win, the Golden Mules brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Luke Herr made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ayden Herr and Derek Phipps did most of the damage at the plate: Ayden scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Phipps scored a run while going 1-for-4. Phipps also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joey Chapman, who got no hits from his three at bats.

Solanco's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Eastern York, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Solanco will challenge Conestoga Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastern York, they will host Kennard-Dale at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
