Baseball Recap: Valley Oaks CES Vanguards vs. Valor Academy

Valley Oaks CES had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it six. They came up short against Valor Academy, falling 20-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Valor Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-8 back in April.

Justin Rendon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Valor Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

On Valor Academy's side, Daniel Silva made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Silva has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Valor Academy is undefeated when Silva posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Samuel Herrejon was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI.
