Baseball Recap: Medfield Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Medfield had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Medway Mustangs by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Danny Vazquez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Vazquez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Foscaldo, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medfield will head out to face off against Norton at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Medfield is facing Norton at the right time seeing as Norton is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Medway, they will head out on the road to take on Bellingham at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
