Basketball Recap: Palmyra Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ryan Mayo and Kobee Martin

Palmyra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairbury Jeffs.

Palmyra's loss came despite strong showings from Kobee Martin and Ryan Mayo. Martin posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Mayo put up eight points and five boards. Owen Reed was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Palmyra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Brodie Prellwitz went supernova for Fairbury, going 11 for 14 on his way to 30 points along with five boards and four steals. That's the most points Prellwitz has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Watson, who earned eight points and seven rebounds.

Palmyra's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Fairbury, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmyra will welcome Nebraska City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairbury, they will take on Schuyler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
