Baseball Recap: Plant City Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Plant City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Brandon Eagles by a score of 7-4 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Brenham Hay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Hay was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Cothren, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Max Cieslo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Plant City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brandon only posted an OBP of .344.

Plant City pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brandon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plant City will host Alonso at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Plant City 3.5, Alonso 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Brandon, they will be playing at home against Middleton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
