Basketball Preview: Eastwood Troopers vs. Eastlake Falcons
Two dominant guards in Devin Falk-Ramirez and Aaron Vargas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Eastwood Troopers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eastlake Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Eastwood will be looking to keep their 17-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Eastwood pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin.
Meanwhile, Eastlake didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Spartans on Friday, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win.
Eastlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Brandon, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Tristan Edmond, who scored eight points.
Eastwood's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-10. As for Eastlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-13 record this season.
Eastwood came up short against the Falcons in their previous meeting back in January, falling 57-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vargas, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Now that Eastwood knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
