Recap: Valley Christian Panthers vs. Odessa Tigers
The Valley Christian Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Odessa. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley Christian in their matchups with Odessa: they've now lost seven in a row.
It was another big night for Hayden Schuh, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds for Odessa. That makes it five consecutive games in which Schuh has scored at least 25% of Odessa's points. Melloney Deife was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Odessa, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Christian and Wellpinit will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing is sure in Wellpinit's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Valley Christian has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Odessa, they will take on Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
