Basketball Game Preview: Oceanside Mariners vs. Brewer Witches

The Oceanside Mariners will venture away from home to square off against the Brewer Witches at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oceanside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Oceanside beat Leavitt 53-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mariners.

Oceanside can attribute much of their success to Zeb Foster, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 25 points, and Jackson Kay, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Foster a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, Brewer put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over Messalonskee. While the Witches didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Oceanside pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 87.3 points per game. As for Brewer, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Oceanside beat Brewer 44-33 when the teams last played back in December of 2016. Will Oceanside repeat their success, or does Brewer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
