Volleyball Recap: Midview Middies vs. Westlake Demons
Midview had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Westlake Demons, sneaking past 3-2. This was payback for the Middies, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
Midview wouldn't go down easily and took Westlake into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16, 21-25, 20-25, 17-15.

Leading Midview to victory were Mia Laury and Kendyl Gregor. Laury had seven digs and five aces, while Gregor had 21 digs and six aces. Those seven digs gave Laury a new career-high.
They weren't the only good server: Midview was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. They served one more ace than Westlake's also-impressive total of 18.
Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olive VanDetta, who had 14 digs and two aces.
Midview and Westlake will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Middies will square off against rival Avon Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Westlake is set to face off against their familiar foe Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
