Baseball Game Preview: Lowell Red Devils vs. Hobart Brickies

For the second straight game, Lowell will face off against Hobart. The Red Devils will host the Brickies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowell is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Lowell came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hobart by a score of 9-7 on Monday.

Gavin Gutierrez put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Lowell: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-13-1 otherwise.

Gutierrez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Brooker, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Logan Houser was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Hobart's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Lowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14-1.
