Baseball Recap: Clarendon Comes Up Short

Clarendon lost against Wellington on April 1st, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Broncos fell just short of the Skyrockets by a score of 6-4. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clarendon got a good showing from Parker Haynes, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Haynes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Sims was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Clarendon is 5-1 when Sims posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Allred, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Clarendon's record now sits at 10-10. As for Wellington, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Clarendon is set to square off against their familiar foe Quanah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wellington will challenge rival Memphis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
