Baseball Recap: Canyon Hills Drops Season-High Score on Mount Miguel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Hills). They had just enough and edged out the Mount Miguel Matadors 10-9. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rattlers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2022.

Josh Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ollie Korman and Taylon Sheriff did most of the damage at the plate: Korman went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Sheriff went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Sheriff a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Wabe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Canyon Hills' win bumped their record up to 3-6-2. As for Mount Miguel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Coming up, Canyon Hills will face off against New Roads at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mount Miguel, they will welcome Chadwick at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
