Basketball Recap: J.L. Mann Comes Up Short

J.L. Mann was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 69-45 to the Greenville Red Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 71-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why J.L. Mann lost, don't look at Dontez Walker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Walker's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nickoli Williams, who posted ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, J.L. Mann smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

J.L. Mann's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Greenville, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
