Football Game Preview: Avalon Eagles vs. Methodist Children's Home Bulldogs

The Avalon Eagles will head out to square off against the Methodist Children's Home Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Avalon has three straight wins, Methodist Children's Home has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Avalon was fully in charge, breezing past Trinidad 57-12. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Josh Novak was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 190 yards and four TDs on only six carries. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last 14 times he's played.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-26, which was the final score in Methodist Children's Home's tilt against Oglesby on Friday.

Avalon's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Methodist Children's Home, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything came up roses for Avalon against Methodist Children's Home when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 50-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
