Football Recap: El Capitan Comes Up Short + How To Watch

While it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, El Capitan was not quite Steele Canyon's equal in the second half on Friday. They lost 35-14 to the Cougars. The Vaqueros have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Gavin Caha looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 238 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Steele Canyon, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

El Capitan and Steele Canyon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Vaqueros (ranked 530th) will meet Helix (ranked 251st) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Steele Canyon will challenge Mount Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th with a big rank disadvantage (178 vs. 44).
