Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Valparaiso's 12th in Last 15 Outings

Valparaiso had won three straight home games and Lillian Barnes did her part to make it four on Friday. The Valparaiso Vikings managed a 47-43 win over the Lake Central Indians thanks in part to Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Kincaid, who posted five points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two).

Defeat or not, Lake Central got some senior leadership from Vanessa Wimberly and Ayla Krygier. Wimberly scored 19 points and eight rebounds, while Krygier earned 13 points and three blocks.

Valparaiso is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Lake Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-7 record.

When Valparaiso and Lake Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Valparaiso will try to stop Munster's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valparaiso is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Lake Central will face off against Hammond Morton and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
