Baseball Recap: Katahdin Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Katahdin is still undefeated this season after their contest against Fort Kent on Friday, but Fort Kent came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cougars came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Warriors. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Cougars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Josh Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Connor Edwards was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Pipes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Katahdin's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Kent, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Katahdin will welcome Hodgdon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Kent, they will head out to square off against Fort Fairfield at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
