Basketball Recap: Jellico Comes Up Short

Jellico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Gibbs Eagles, falling 97-68.

When it comes to explaining why Jellico lost, don't look at Trey Vann. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards. The game was Vann's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Dabney, who posted 13 points.

Zack Turner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gibbs, going 10 of 20 en route to 28 points along with eight assists and seven boards. Turner has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last nine times he's played. Dajuan Harris was another key player, going 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Jellico's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Gibbs, their record now sits at 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jellico will host Oakdale at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th. As for Gibbs, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Halls at 7:30 p.m. Halls knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Gibbs likes a good challenge.
