Mansfield Christian came into Monday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Central Christian Comets on Monday, sneaking past 9-7. The Flames have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Comets, too.

Bailee Nelson made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Maddie Hockman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Mansfield Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Central Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Mansfield Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
