Soccer Recap: Gulf Coast Takes a Loss

If Gulf Coast was riding high fresh off their 5-2 takedown of Riverview Sarasota last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gulf Coast Sharks took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barron Collier Cougars on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Cougars are ranked sixth).

Sebastian Garcia and David Velez scored both of Gulf Coast's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Gulf Coast has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5-1 record this season. As for Barron Collier, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Gulf Coast will challenge North Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Barron Collier, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Barron Collier face off against the First Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
