Baseball Game Preview: Manteo Redskins vs. Pasquotank County Panthers

For the second straight game, Manteo will face off against Pasquotank County. The Redskins will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

Manteo will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Pasquotank County on Tuesday. The Redskins put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 20-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Drew Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Manteo got a massive performance out of Tanner Sawyer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Sawyer has posted since back in April of 2024. Taylor Granitzki was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Manteo's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pasquotank County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
