Basketball Recap: Willapa Valley Takes a Loss

Willapa Valley lost against Mary M. Knight back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Willapa Valley Vikings took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mary M. Knight Owls.

Despite the loss, Willapa Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tylar Keeton dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Keeton is becoming a predictor of Willapa Valley's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 7-2 (and 6-9 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lauren Matlock, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Willapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Willapa Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Mary M. Knight, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Willapa Valley nor Mary M. Knight have any future games scheduled.
