Baseball Game Preview: Gaston Christian Eagles vs. SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles

Gaston Christian is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on SouthLake Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Gaston Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Cannon, taking the game 11-6.

Carter Rowe was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Meridian Leffew, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

Gaston Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, SouthLake Christian Academy posted their closest victory since February 23, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over Non Varsity Opponent. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Evan Hogg made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Hogg is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Hogg wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sean Rodesiler, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Isaac Shires was another, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Everything went Gaston Christian's way against SouthLake Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Gaston Christian made off with a 15-1 victory.
