Basketball Recap: Hesston Comes Up Short

After flying high against Larned last Friday, Hesston came back down to earth. The Hesston Swathers fell 57-50 to the Cheney Cardinals on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Swathers of the 44-29 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Hesston's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Cheney, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0-1.

Looking ahead, Hesston won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pratt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cheney, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Belle Plaine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheney knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Belle Plaine likes a good challenge.
