Basketball Game Preview: Crownpoint Eagles vs. Zuni Thunderbirds

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles take on the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Crownpoint is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Tohatchi on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Crownpoint had to suffer through a 71-40 loss at the hands of Tohatchi. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Cougars are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Zuni was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Navajo Prep, falling 77-42.

Zuni's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Crownpoint, they dropped their record down to 7-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Crownpoint strolled past Zuni in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 60-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crownpoint since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
