Baseball Recap: North Summit's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grand County, North Summit was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Beaver Dam Diamondback 11-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Braves as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Easton Richins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Jaxon Preator was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kason Richins, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

North Summit's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Beaver Dam, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.

Coming up, North Summit will square off against Varsity Opponent at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. North Summit is facing Varsity Opponent at the right time seeing as Varsity Opponent is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Beaver Dam, they will take on Awaken Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaver Dam has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
