Softball Recap: West Finds Home Field Redemption Against Oak Ridge

There's no place like home for West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Oak Ridge Wildcats 8-7. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Brooke Weaver made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Weaver was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emily Ciancone was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Jenkins, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

The win got West back to even at 9-9. As for Oak Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West will host Webb at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Ridge, they will welcome Powell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
