Preview: Hampton County Hurricanes vs. Woodland Wolverines

Hampton County has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. The Hampton County Hurricanes and the Woodland Wolverines will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Hampton County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.

On Wednesday, Hampton County didn't have too much trouble with Ridgeland-Hardeeville on the road as they won 60-46. Given Hampton County's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Ridgeland-Hardeeville is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kavon Chisolm was his usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ja'mere Martin, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, Woodland can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 63-31 victory over Edisto on the road. The victory was nothing new for Woodland as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hampton County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Woodland, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Hampton County suffered a grim 76-56 defeat to Woodland when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Hampton County have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
