Football Game Preview: St. Mary's South Side Dragons vs. Althoff Catholic Crusaders

The St. Mary's South Side Dragons will square off against the Althoff Catholic Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

St. Mary's South Side is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Lutheran to the tune of 44-0 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Dragons sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Meanwhile, Althoff Catholic got the win against Mater Dei on Friday by a conclusive 58-35. That looming 58-35 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Crusaders yet this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jay Crumble Jr. and Steven Brown. Crumble Jr. rushed for 123 yards and a pair of scores while Brown rushed for 151 yards and one TD on only five carries.

Althoff Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

St. Mary's South Side's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Althoff Catholic, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
