Softball Recap: Northwood Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Northwood's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers by a score of 15-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Chargers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jasmine Wichowski was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allison Bryant, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelis Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Northwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Northwood's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Bartlett Yancey, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coincidentally, Northwood and Bartlett Yancey will both be playing Seaforth the next time they take the field. The Chargers will head out to face the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Buccaneers will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
