Volleyball Recap: El Camino Takes Down Lincoln in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, El Camino rose to the challenge on Friday. They won by a set and slipped past the Lincoln Hornets 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

El Camino took Lincoln into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-14, 17-25, 19-25, 15-11.

Makayla Boone was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 24 digs and two assists. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September.

El Camino was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive contests.

Isabela Porfirio and Samantha Donlucas certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Porfirio had ten digs and two aces, while Donlucas had five aces, three digs, and two blocks. Mariah Moses also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

El Camino's record now sits at 29-11. As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-16 record this season.

El Camino will be playing at home against Grossmont at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
