Basketball Recap: Boca Ciega Skates Past Bayshore with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Boca Ciega's strategy against Bayshore on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Bruins out of the water with a 62-22 final score. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Leading Boca Ciega to victory were Keshawn Andrews and Anthony Brown. Andrews went 9-for-15 en route to 19 points and six boards, while Brown shot 44% from the field to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Neven Vukovic, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Boca Ciega smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Bayshore's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamale Bane, who put up seven points and ten boards. Mateo Laza was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Boca Ciega's record is now 2-0. As for Bayshore, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Boca Ciega will take on Oviedo at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bayshore, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
