Soccer Game Preview: Newton-Conover vs. Cape Fear Academy

The Newton-Conover Red Devils will head out to face off against the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Newton-Conover is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering West Brunswick just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Friday. Neither they nor the Trojans could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept Newton-Conover happy, as they haven't lost a game since March 8th.

Meanwhile, Cape Fear Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Chargers. The result was nothing new for Cape Fear Academy, who have now won six games by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Wayne Country Day from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal.

Cape Fear Academy pushed their record up to 10-1-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those seven matches. Newton-Conover's draw makes their record 10-4-2 this season.
