Basketball Game Preview: Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams vs. Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors

Word of God Christian Academy has gone 8-2 against Mount Zion Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams will face off against the Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Word of God Christian Academy is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since November 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 win over Hargrave Military Academy. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Holy Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 276th in North Carolina, while the Tigers are ranked 114th in Virginia).

Brandon Solomon was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Prince N, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mount Zion Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 67-63 to Winston Salem Christian. The Mighty Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Word of God Christian Academy will have to contain Jayden Adams as he made an impact in Mount Zion Christian Academy's last game. He went 11 of 21 en route to 28 points. That's the most points Adams has posted since back in December of 2024. Chris Walker was another key player, putting up eight points along with ten boards and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Mount Zion Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Mount Zion Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Word of God Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Word of God Christian Academy strolled past Mount Zion Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 88-69.
