Softball Recap: Montgomery Comes Up Short

Montgomery was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rutgers Prep Argonauts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Ryane Riddell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Gandolfo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Montgomery's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Rutgers Prep, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.

Coming up, Montgomery is taking a road trip to square off against South Hunterdon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rutgers Prep, they will be playing at home against Manville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
