Serena had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Dwight Trojans on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Huskers have won 18 games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddie Glade was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Lanee Cole was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Finley Brodbeck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Serena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dwight only posted a batting average of .062.
Serena is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dwight, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16.
