Basketball Recap: Serra Gets the Win

Serra was handed a 26-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Verbum Dei Jesuit Eagles, sneaking past 65-63. This was payback for the Cavaliers, who suffered a 55-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Figueroa, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Chase Coleman was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Serra's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Serra has already played their next game, a 61-43 win against Shadow Hills on the 17th. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 80-56 defeat against San Marcos on the 19th.
