Basketball Recap: Lake City Panthers vs. Lee Central Stallions
Lake City was the 48-41 winner over Lee Central when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lake City Panthers took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lee Central Stallions on Thursday. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Loss or not, Lake City got some senior leadership from Devin Cockfield and Kenjae Burgess. Cockfield dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Burgess posted ten points along with six boards and three steals. Lake City is 3-1 when Cockfield posts eight or more rebounds, but 5-6 otherwise.
Demarius Gregg was a one-man wrecking crew for Lee Central as he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. That's the most points Gregg has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chuck Harry, who earned eight points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.
Lake City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Lee Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake City will challenge Manning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lee Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Governor's School for Science & Math at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
