Softball Recap: Florida State University High School Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chiles, Florida State University High School was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Seminoles have won four contests by more than 13 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Preslee Donaldson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Donaldson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ansley Hurst, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season. Layna Photo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Florida State University High School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Florida State University High School's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for FAMU DRS, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coincidentally, Florida State University High School and FAMU DRS will both be playing Leon the next time they take the field. Florida State University High School will host Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while FAMU DRS will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
