Softball Recap: Liberty County Wins Going Away Against Northside

Liberty County came out on top against Northside on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Panthers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Mya Armstrong was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Armstrong was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adalyn Norton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Kayleigh Barnard was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Liberty County and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Northside, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Liberty County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
