Basketball Recap: Monticello Triumphs

Monticello picked up another tournament win on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Valley Springs Tigers, sneaking past 54-51.

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Valley Springs, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14.

Monticello and Valley Springs could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings. The Billies will challenge Malvern at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026 with a big rank disadvantage (203 vs. 55). Meanwhile, Valley Springs (ranked 207th) will meet Melbourne (ranked 102nd) at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
