Baseball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. Victory Christian Academy fell 9-6 to Brooklane Baptist. Victory Christian Academy hasn't had much luck with Brooklane Baptist recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Wyatt Bowman put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Bowman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Chatman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Chatman is becoming a predictor of Victory Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Victory Christian Academy's record now sits at 6-6. As for Brooklane Baptist, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Victory Christian Academy will square off against Southern Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brooklane Baptist, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Victory Christian at 5:00 p.m. on May 2.
