Antioch has gone 9-1 against Grayslake North recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sequoits will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:45 p.m.

Antioch is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Taft just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Sequoits couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Grayslake North came tearing into Monday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hornets a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley O'Brien made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

O'Brien wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dakota McLester, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Alyson Alvarenga was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Grayslake North's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Antioch, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Antioch took their win against Grayslake North in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Sequoits repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
