Grand Canyon suffers ninth straight loss on the road

Recap: Grand Canyon Phantoms vs. Ash Fork Spartans

This season hasn't been kind to the Grand Canyon Phantoms, who are still winless after their 16th match. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 53-29 walloping at the hands of Ash Fork on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Grand Canyon has suffered since December 15, 2023.

Several Phantoms players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Everett Rommel, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rommel continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Lambon, who scored five points.

Gabril Zeller was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with three steals for Ash Fork. Another player making a difference was Parnell Tsosie, who scored 12 points.

Grand Canyon's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-16. As for Ash Fork, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Grand Canyon will be playing at home against Fredonia at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Fredonia is ranked 350th, while Grand Canyon is ranked 356th). As for Ash Fork, they will head out on the road to square off against Williams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Nickoli Cody and Josue Tellez.
