Baseball Recap: Bartlett Takes a Loss

Bartlett fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Aurora on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blackhawks by a score of 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Blackhawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Josh Colaizzi put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Colaizzi wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Pelz, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Ben Emro also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bartlett's loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for West Aurora, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

While Bartlett had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
