Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Falls Short Against Ranked Paul VI

St. Mary's Ryken is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Paul VI. The St. Mary's Ryken Knights were outmatched by the Paul VI Panthers and fell 72-43. The Knights have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

St. Mary's Ryken's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Harris, who went 7 for 11 to rack up 15 points. What's more, Harris also posted a 64% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Vilte Kacerauskaite, who posted nine points and six boards.

St. Mary's Ryken's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Paul VI, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bishop McNamara the next time they take the court. Paul VI will host Bishop McNamara at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while St. Mary's Ryken will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
