Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Newton walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Tri-County Cavaliers on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won eight in a row.

Tri-County's batters probably weren't too happy with Sydney Rainford, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up two walks). Rainford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Newton's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylynn Klemz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

North Newton's record is now 20-3-1. As for Tri-County, they moved to 24-3 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

As of now, neither North Newton nor the Cavaliers have any future games scheduled.
