Volleyball Recap: Wheeler Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Wheeler unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Morgan Township Cherokees on Monday. If the Bearcats were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cherokees when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Wheeler was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-13, 25-23.

Lexi Rippe had a dynamite game For Morgan Township., getting 20 digs and five kills.

Morgan Township's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Wheeler will square off against North Judson-San Pierre at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Morgan Township, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against River Forest on the 19th.
